Why I Chose Synthetic Emeralds

Emeralds are gems that are developed from beryl and get its green color from chromium traces that are generally found within the beryl. Aside from the fact that I like the color green, emeralds are also considered to be my birth stone and I have always been fascinated with their beauty. However, the prices have often kept me away from them until I found out that I can get real - fake emeralds. You must be thinking that such a contradiction makes no sense at all and that was my first reaction as well, but I have since learned that synthetic emeralds are being made and while they are generated within a lab, they are also made from the same beryl material, which makes them the real thing.

Aside from the fact that original, dug up emeralds are expensive, they are also very fragile because of the particles that make them up, but these synthetic ones are built a little tougher and as such, my money will go a longer way. There is another factor that some people may not be aware of and that is the fact that the synthetic or lab created emeralds (as they are often called) are actually crafted better than those originals that were dug up.

Think about it, if they are able to manipulate its growth from within the lab and spend a lot more time to get it perfected, then it is only natural that they are made better and with a higher degree of perfection that the originals. This is another reason for my synthetic choice.

While I refer to them has originals and synthetics; I have also mentioned that they are both made of the same materials and the developing process, pretty much comes down to: crystal nutrients being dissolved in a water based liquid that contains acidic solutions, and then allowing it to crystallize on a natural beryllium seed.
